In a groundbreaking collaboration, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and acclaimed Swedish violinist Christian Svarfvar have reimagined Andersson’s music through the lens of the classical symphony orchestra.

Curated and arranged by renowned Swedish arranger and conductor Anders Berglund, this project features symphonic interpretations of Andersson’s most beloved compositions — from ABBA, BAO, and the musicals Chess and Kristina från Duvemåla. The result is a vivid, lyrical, and cinematic tribute to one of Sweden’s most important musical voices.

A Landmark Recording

Recorded in London with a full orchestral setting, the album — The Symphonic Touch of Benny Andersson — was released worldwide on April 14, 2023, featuring twelve instrumental tracks. The first single, released on March 10, introduced Christian Svarfvar’s vibrant rendition of ABBA’s Money, Money, Money (1976), performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

In a highlight performance later that year, Christian Svarfvar presented Money, Money, Money with the Stockholm Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Anders Berglund at the official opening of the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag) 2023, held in the Stockholm Concert Hall. The concert was broadcast live on Swedish National Television (SVT2) and attended by the Swedish Royal Family.

A Composer Beyond Pop

Though best known for his work with ABBA, Benny Andersson began his career in the 1960s as a keyboardist and songwriter in Swedish rock bands. His partnership with Björn Ulvaeus led to a creative alliance that would define pop history. Yet Andersson’s artistic path extended far beyond — encompassing musical theatre, folk music, film scores, and orchestral works that reflect his deep musical curiosity and craftsmanship.
